“God sent his Son, they called him Jesus; he came to love, heal, and forgive; He lived and died to buy my pardon, an empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives. Because He lives, I can face tomorrow; because He lives, all fear is gone; Because I know he holds the future, and life is worth the living just because he lives.”
G. and W. Gaither, 1971
How do I Love God? and “How do I Love and Forgive Others?
The snow falls and melts away (this week) and we’re ready for warm weather, colorful spring flowers, and happy Easter celebrations! Yes, there are a lot of Easter bunnies and chocolate eggs for sale, but it’s always Jesus and God’s love that are at the heart of Easter.
God gave his only Son Jesus as a gift of Love to the world. Jesus came to earth to teach us how to love God and love others with our whole hearts and lives.
The Lenten season (five weeks before Easter – starts on Ash Wednesday) is a time for us to look at our own lives and ask ourselves “How do I love God?” and “How do I love and forgive others?” I think the hardest part is to love our enemies and forgive others. Forgiveness is hard work.
In these weeks heading towards Easter Sunday, I hope that you will spend time with God and ask the hard questions “How do I love God?” and “How do I love and forgive others?”
Stay focused on the true meaning of Easter: “Christ is risen!” Jesus offers the gifts of God’s love and forgiveness, eternal life, and salvation.
Have a blessed Lent and Easter season,
